4TH AVENUE CHOIR

branding / logo / POSTER / MERCH

The 4th Ave Choir was assembled to represent The Asbury Lanes, a popular underground music venue that had recently closed for renovations. The Choir was assembled of Asbury Lanes regulars and employees many of whom come from a punk background to sing a medley of punk rock Christmas songs at the annual Tree Lighting ceremony at Convention Hall in Asbury Park. For the choir branding I was inspired by band patches and stickers popular in the music scene. From an already vibrant illustrative culture I created a brand that balanced punk rock roots without taking itself too seriously, and Christmas without making something too jolly. For the Choir itself, I created song books for rehearsals and the event as well as a limited run of pin back buttons for the choir members. The greatest measure of success with this project was one of the choir members getting the logo tattooed on him a couple of weeks after the Tree Lighting.
